Barb

Barb Darling: Welcome to my staff bio Q&A page. Please read below to learn more about me.

What position(s) do you hold at North Cape Animal Clinic/Creature Comforts Pet Resort?

I’m the Animal Care Coordinator at Creature Comforts Pet Resort most days. This means I greet the boarders and their families and coordinate their comforts during their stay. Even before your pet arrives I research her vaccine and health history to ensure her safety while with us.

Where were you born?

I was born at home on the farm in Northern Iowa.

How long have you lived in SW Florida and what’s the best thing about living here?

Rusty and I moved to Pine Island in 2001. We enjoy gardening on our little acre of paradise and the music and art culture on the island.

Tell us about the first animal you loved.

We had lots of animals on the farm. In particular I loved Buck, a Cocker Spaniel. He accompanied me on hikes through the fields and loved to swim in the creek near our farm. Spot (original name, huh?) was one of the mousers in the barn but she and I had a special friendship. She’s responsible for starting my life-long love affair with cats.

What animal companions share your life now?

Big Red, Pink-a-Boo and Mulan are pampered rescue cats who love being waited on hand and foot by the two doting humans in their house.

What keeps you busy when you’re not at work or caring for your own animals?

I’m a potter and a writer. Having my hands in the clay and pushing it to the limit of its capabilities relaxes me and feeds the starving artist’s soul in me. I’ve been a writer all my life and have published two little books and collaborated on 2 others.
