What position(s) do you hold at North Cape Animal Clinic/Creature Comforts Pet Resort?
I am Lead Veterinary Technician at North Cape Animal Clinic. I often fill in as Animal Care Coordinator at the clinic and at Creature Comforts Pet Resort. It’s great to enjoy the pets at the resort when I work as kennel technician on some weekends and holidays.
Where were you born?
Even though I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela until I was 11 yrs old, my family is from Bogota, Colombia. Because I was raised with Colombian customs and food, I consider my self Colombian.
How long have you lived in SW Florida and what’s the best thing about living here?
We moved to Cape Coral from Miami in 2003. The best thing about living here is the wonderful nature surrounding me. I also enjoy less traffic than Miami!
Tell us about the first animal you loved.
Motoso was a white male hamster. I would bathe him in the kitchen sink w/shampoo and conditioner, then blow dry and comb his hair. Then he was like a white cotton ball running all over the house. Hamsters have a life expectency of 3 years so I had a lot of them. I cried so hard when they were gone that even though I love hamsters I don't think I can ever have one again.
What animals companions share your life now?
Slider is a tabby male cat, Ball Park is a black cat and Xena is a female Rottweiler.
What keeps you busy when you’re not at work or caring for your own animal(s)?
I am a sleep champion. I could make a career of eating if someone would pay me but my husband, Dennys, is a private trainer so he encourages me to eat healthy. He & I go on long motorcycle rides to relax. Our new hobby is fishing and we enjoy it whenever possible, even when we don't catch anything!
